01 · The challenge

What was getting in the way

Tandem Learning ran language courses through a web portal that worked poorly on phones and not at all on the long bus rides where most students had time to study. Only one learner in five finished the first month.

Teachers had no view of who was falling behind until the end of term, and the small product team could not afford two separate native apps.

02 · Our solution

What we built and how

We built one Flutter codebase for iOS and Android, with lessons that download in the background and sync progress when the connection returns. Short sessions, streaks and spaced-repetition reviews were tested with 300 learners before the public release.

A teacher dashboard shows each class’s progress and flags learners who have gone quiet, with a one-tap nudge message. Accessibility work covered screen readers, dynamic type and captions on every audio exercise.
